Incorporating your non-profit organization or church is a necessary step to gain tax-exempt status as a non-profit organization or a non-profit (religious) organization with the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS will not grant you tax-exempt status for your organization unless your organization is incorporated through the state your organization resides in.
To incorporate your organization, D & L provides all service required to incorproate on local, state and federal levels. The following services are provided in your incorporation:
I. Write your Articles of Incorporation
This is a document which designates the purpose of your non-profit organization or church, the governing members, if any and basic information such as the mailing address, and officers.
II. File for Incorporation through your Secretary of State's Office
Though the procedure varies a bit from state to state, it generally consists of submitting the articles of incorporaiton along with a fee, usually of $100 to $200 to your Secretary of State's office.
III. Obtain an Employer Identification Number from the IRS for your
Organization
An employer identification number is used by the IRS to identify your non-profit organization or church as a business entity and is necessary to hire employees, whether part-time or full-time.
